Only one of the four models listed below ever appeared in any Shenandoah catalog or literature and the published sources do not specifically mention the other two at all. There is a vague reference to “Miscellaneous Prototypes” in the published C.F. Martin & Co production data, but the last guitar listed in that category left Nazareth in 1987, four years before any of the instruments listed on this page were assembled and finished

Whatever those Miscellaneous Prototypes were, they were definitely not any of the guitars you see listed below. Most of the serial numbers for the guitars listed below are known and all of those known serial numbers date to 1991. The total number of Miscellaneous Prototypes was recorded as 34 examples, apparently broken up into 3 batches. Seven were made in 1984, then a one year gap, followed by 20 in 1986 and seven in 1987.
